Lowboy Driver – Job Description:
The Lowboy Driver is responsible for loading and securing construction equipment onto a trailer to transport from one location to the next. The equipment may include but are not limited to excavator, dozer, skidsteer, fuel tanks, crusher equipment, and oversized loads. This position will transport equipment to various construction sites but may also work in the yard moving materials as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver equipment and materials.
· Attaches and removes pup trailers, belly dump & side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed.
· Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required.
· Load and unload construction equipment and materials.
· Shovels any remaining materials out of the dump box after a delivery as needed.
· Applies chains to tires as required by road conditions.
· Keeps accurate log of deliveries and completes required paperwork for billing.
· Hauls various equipment or materials on tilt/transport trailers to transfer to other job site locations.
· Maintains equipment in a safe and clean condition.
· Performs pre and post trip truck and trailer inspections.
· Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
· Fuels truck.
· Cleans truck by washing the outside and keeping the inside cab clean. Cleans dump box using shovel or pressure washer to clean out any remaining materials.
· Informs Service Technician and Supervisor of any maintenance or repairs needed. May perform minor maintenance tasks to trucks or equipment as needed.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· May operate various heavy equipment if trained.
· May assist with unloading equipment and materials/supplies from tilt trailers. May operate heavy equipment, after training provided, to load and unload from trailers.
· May assist the Service Technician with truck maintenance and repairs.
· May perform other duties as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
· Class A CDL; current DOT medical card required.
· Have or able to obtain Hazmat or other endorsement is a plus.
· Must have good depth perception and coordination to drive truck safely and efficiently.
· Must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
· Basic mechanical skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND CLASSIFICATION:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must be able to lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs. and on occasion up to 100 lbs. Physical abilities test will be required. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
